Great location, next to The Grove and Farmers Market, means you can actually walk somewhere in the night time! Hotel is really cool, like a retro motel. Staff are great and the attached restaurant / bar serves good food at decent prices.
I LOVED the location being near the Grove and food, theatre, shopping was a huge draw card to stay there. I liked the quirkiness of the hotel and the staff were friendly. The hotel had an open space feeling to it ie, not claustrophobicI liked the TART restaurant and thought there wa a good choice on the menu.
The walls were very thin so we could hear everything in the next room. it was a difficult to sleep with the noise and the shutting of their door when they were coming and going I prefer carpet than vinyl flooring (but thats just me).
I liked the easy access to parts of L.A. like The Grove. Such a beautiful place, easy to just walk everywhere, hardly had to drive anywhere.
Good location nice sized rooms.
We felt the security of the room safe had been compromised whilst we were staying there. We have a standard number we use on room safes and on day evening of day two we were unable to open the safe. yet we had opened it a number of times. When we went to the front desk to ask for help we were given a instructions on how to open safe with default code. Not a satisfactory level of security. Anyone including house keeping staff could be possession of that and accessing room safes.
Location definitely, and price (relative)
The average price per room per day went up 47% in less than two years. The last time I stayed at the Farmer's Daughter was in February 2010. The exact same room (size) was $119.25 per night plus $16.70 in tax, consistently each night (I still have the receipt). I booked through Booked.net. This time it was graduated depending upon hotel occupancy and averaged $200 a night. This was disappointing because nothing about accomodations has improved.
Well placed for most of Los Angles tourist attractions but transport is required to reach them. Restaurant was good and service was friendly. All hotel staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Rooms were basic but sufficient if using the hotel just as a base for exploring the city.
Our room had two comfy queen beds with soft pillows, good sized bathroom, 40' LCD TV and good A/C. Everything was very clean. All people who work at the front desk are very nice, specially Manu. Talking about front desk, they have cold pink lemonade and fries during the evening and fantastic choc chip cookies at night at reception. The pool is not very large, but is very useful in a typical LA hot day. Children love the plastic ducks at the pool The Farmer's Market and The Groove are just across the street and offer a great choice of restaurants, stores and movie theaters. I strongly recommend this hotel specially if you are travelling with little kids.
Had our booking changed as they didn't have the two beds available so offered king bed and roll out bed. We were first upset as booked 4 months in advance and even though our traveling partner was my daughter she is an adult and we didn't want to share bed. Roll out bed for 6 nighties was our concern due to comfort. But it ended up being fine
Restaurant was abit slow in service
I really loved the location, and the decor of the hotel.
Beside the location, farmer's daughter is the worse hotel I have ever stayed in! It should be ranked 2 stars or less.
The pillows smelled, the beds were small and uncomfortable the AC was noisy and old the room was simply ugly. The staff were rude unfriendly not even a good morning was said to us! Although well located, however you will need a car therefore I don't advice people to be tempted by "location" LA is big and a car is a must! Too expensive for what it has to offer. Not a 4 stars for sure. The staff need to learn hospitality.
Cool hotel and good location - very friendly staff and great food in restaurant
The unique design concept, friendly and helpful staff and great location near the farmers market. Also close to whole foods which allows cheaper eating.
Just right across farmers market. The hotel is fun, the restaurant is great.
The swimming pool and the amenities...should be a 3 stars
The location (near Farmer's Market and other shopping) was good. The room was clean and comfortable.
The trim around doors and floors needs to be repainted. While we got used to the valet parking requirement, I would like to have had a self-parking option. Also, if the valet parking (at $18 per day) is not included in the hotel description (I can't remember if it was) it should be.
Great value for money, funky design, excellent location, I loved nearby Farmer's Market and the Grove, and the area was so close to all the sights and ammentities. I felt safe and secure at Farmer's Daughter Hotel, but not like I was stuck out in the suburbs.
The only complaint was that the airconditioner made the room smell musty. I would give the aircon intake and air vents a reallly good clean with eucalyptus cleaner or something similar to improve the smell.
